You're Such a Blessing/Feel Better

Hey there! I squeaked in some crafting time here and there over the weekend and came up with a pair of cards for the Twofer Card Challenge. It just so happens that one of my card designs was a long skinny one and that's what Just Us Girls is looking for this week.

I haven't made one of these cards in years. My late sister-in-law and I used to have card challenges between the two of us. She called these tall cards and often had that as part of her challenge. Here's one for you Kathy!

I used my PTI butterfly dies here. The solid die was used to create a flurry of butterflies for the background. Then I used the die with cutouts for two winged beauties on the front. I added some of the little cut outs back in, swapping the colors between the two butterflies. This one could be used for a thank you, thinking of you or even a birthday!

For my second card, I used the solid die to turn my PTI angel into a butterfly fairy delivering feel better wishes.

Here they are together!

  1. Oh Lisa...I am absolutely in LOVE with both of these cards!! Your "tall" card is so pretty and I just love how you've used the two dies in so many ways on this card, but especially the background...I need to remember that!! And the butterfly as the angel wings in your 2nd card? Total thinking outside the box and creative!! Two absolutely FABULOUS cards and just perfect for the challenge! Hugs. :0)

  6. Gee, do you think Tom could pick out the notes on that paper? It could determine if it's a happy birthday card! lol But it doesn't matter what song it 'sings' as it is such a beautiful landing zone for your pretty little flutterbys!
You know I do believe that butterflies might be Angels... our Sharron has visited me already! xx

  9. Marisela Delgado said:Hi,Lisa! Beautiful cards. Your sister-in-law sounds like she was a wonderful person. You know, I have always known them to be TALL cards, too. I had never heard of slimline cards until recently. It's kind of like the day that I made a blog comment about rubber stamps and the blogger had NO CLUE what rubber stamps are! What? Anyway, your cards are so pretty. Kathy would love them. Marisela (Mari) mariandmonsterd@yahoo.com

  11. Lisa, these are just wonderful! I haven't made many "tall" cards, but after seeing this first one of yours, I just may have to give it a try again. Love the colors you've chosen, and those butterfly dies are fabulous; so clever to swap out the colors on the wings, too! And speaking of clever...using the butterfly as fairy wings is just brilliant! Such a sweet and pretty card! Gorgeous colors, too. Thank you so much for joining us at The Twofer Challenge! Bev

  14. What a lovely visit, Lisa! I always enjoy following along with your process as you make your beautiful creations. You added so much interest to your tall card background by simply laying on butterflies cut from the same cardstock as the panel, making them almost camouflaged. Then comes the wonderful sepia music sheet flag tag, two butterflies over that, and a finish of bling. Stunning! But wait, no, you made it even more interesting by swapping out and paper piecing some of the butterfly bits!

That was very satisfying, but your creativity wasn't done yet as we can see from the clever way you used the butterfly on your second design! First, we sigh over the pretty scalloped panel in text and pp layers, topped by the angel with her gorgeous rose pp wings, holding her 3D felt rose and sweet sediment. But, wait, are those wings made from a butterfly die? Yup! You are such a keen designer!

I hope you and your family keep well! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #29! Hugs, Darnell

  15. Incredibly creative & beautiful--both of them, Lisa! You have so many great memories of your sister in law. We never have enough time with loved ones, that's for sure. I always forget to use die cuts for a faux embossed background like you did on the tall card--love it!

Brilliant idea to turn the solid butterfly into fairy wings with the angel ... the pops of bright pink in the pp are so pretty ... and that single felt bloom is just lovely ... positively touchable! 26. So fabulous, Lisa. I love the solid butterflies on the first card and thought they were embossed which would work too. Using one for the angel wings was such a good idea.
