PDCC #112 ~ A Christmas Angel!

Hi there! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Ours was filled with family and food! Well actually it was almost filled. Our son and daughter-in-law had gone to Niagara Falls last week with two other couples for a few days. She wasn't feeling quite up to par and on the second day it hit her...THE FLU! Fever,chills.....poor baby. She was well taken care of by what she tells me is "the sweetheart of a son we raised" ~ hee!  Here's just a tid bit of that.

Their plan was to all gather in one room to watch the fireworks over the falls. Obviously the plans changed; so our son moved the hotel room couch in front of their room's large picture window. He moved her to it, covered her up with piles of blankets and they snuggled there watching the magical display! Is that not precious!!!

She made it pretty well through the trip home, but was still too ill on Christmas Eve and Christmas day for the family gatherings. So another celebration is in the near future!

I have a sweet little project to share today and I will enter it into the Play Date Cafe challenge. My mom has displayed some type of angel in each room of her house for several years. This is an all year decoration, not just Christmas angels. But I thought I would make her a new one she could put out somewhere during the holidays.

I started by covering a small wooden spool with a scrap of Cosmo Cricket: Jolly by Golly paper. Then I added a strip of scalloped edge red paper to the top rim. I made several PTI: Holly Jolly felt die cuts and glued them to the top of the spool along with half red pearls for the berries.. The pretty angel is a stamp and die cut from PTI's Love Lives Here: Holiday Collection. The sweet polka dot wings are October Afternoon paper. I used a glitter gel pen along the bottom edge of them and on her hair. She's holding a tiny ornament from the same PTI stamp set and the word mom is a stamp from their Tiny Tags collection.

Thanks for visiting ~ Lisa

Lisa this angel is so adorable. I love that idea of an angel in each room .
Soooo sorry you did not get to be with you son and his wife for Christmas. That darn 24 hr flu has been around here too, it's so random who get it.
TFS Take care.

Beautiful angel, Lisa! ;-) I'm sure your mother will love it, too. Love the spool on the bottom! So sorry about your daughter-in-law - what an awful thing to happen on a trip! Ick. :-( Hope she's recovered by now and able to join you all for a delayed Holiday celebration soon! Cheers. ;-)

I'm so sorry to hear your daughter-in-law is under the weather. I hope she is feeling better and had a little time to see the beauty of the falls.

Your angel is fabulous! I've never made one myself and have been saving my spools in preparation. You may have just provided me the inspiration I needed ... love it!
