rs #78 ~ Bee Well!

Hi  bloggy friends! I hope everyone had a good weekend. Ours wasn't too bad other than the weirdness associated with a tetnas shot I received on Thursday. Just a routine booster, I hadn't had one for years. They said my arm would be sore for a few days. Okay, no big deal. But I woke up on Saturday with a very sore arm. Not so much where I was given the shot, but under my arm along with some swelling.. As the day went on I just felt icky. The shot seemed to have affected my lymph nodes. I had some other places in my body that were a little inflamed and tender. Sunday I was just kind of wiped out. Things are getting a little better today, but I'm not feeling quite up to par. Strange isn't it. Those preventative measures aren't always what they're cracked up to be. The first flu shot I ever got left me sick with one thing after the other that whole winter. Who knew! But enough of that huh, how about a card. I turned to the latest Retro Sketch to get a little something done today. Cute and simple, kind of a get well to myself!!

I've had this whimsical border stamp from the Rubber Cottage for quite some time. I masked off the edges of the card base and stamped the border top to bottom using alternating Harvest Gold & Summer Sunrise inks.  Next I die cut and stamped a PTI fillable frame. The sentiment inside is by DRS. Years ago my hubby brought me home a little strip of reflective tape he had left over from work. He thought maybe I could do something with it ~ my sweet guy! It reminded me of honeycomb. So I use it along with this PSX bee. Fun huh! To add just a touch of umph to the background, I stamped some random dots using a Judith stick stamp.

Well I think that does it for me today. I'm going to drag myself to the grocery store LOL!! Have a great day friends and thanks for popping in! ~Lisa

Beautiful card, Lisa! What a fun border stamp! And I do hope you are feeling better soon. The one year I didn't get the flu shot I ended up with the flu. It was the first time I had to miss work in years!

perfect take on the sketch! Love the honeycomb and bee :)
Sorry to hear you had such a bad reaction to that! It's kind of scary isn't it?- especially since it's something that is supposed to be so routine. Hope you are feeling better soon! XX

What a cute card! I can't believe the honeycomb is reflective tape! Sorry that you have felt so bad! I hate those shots! Everytime I get one that happens!!!

Bummer about the shot reaction, Lisa. Keep an eye on it, please. I think it's always good to call and ask about anything out of the ordinary, unless they told you this might be a reaction.

I think it's awesome that you made yourself a bee well adorable card, perfect for the retro challenge! And how cool is your hubs to bring you the perfect bee accompaniment! It's heartwarming just to know that he was thinking of you at that moment at work!

Take care! Hugs, Darnell

Oh, what a great way to perk yourself up, Lisa! So sweet! I hope you're feeling better now. I still haven't ever gotten a flu shot, but my kiddos get the nasal mist every fall.
