I've had many questions and emails about the mites that were in Max's food. Several of my followers have wondered about their own dog's food. So I thought maybe it would be easier to just do a little post! In answer to the some questions ~ no they were NOT visible to the eye, his food looked PERFECTLY normal. He's always had a sensitive tummy. On Father's Day it was making all kinds of LOUD noises then he started getting these painful little cramp episodes that scare him (he's had them before). All this stopped and he ate his dinner fine. But in the wee hours of the morning he had to run outside. Thank goodness the little guy has NEVER been a messer in the house...if you know what I mean! So anyway we took a little poo sample to the vet and THIS is where the mites were discovered...under the microscope.
Thanks for all the love you sent him. He just got a bath and a snappy little summer haircut, so he looks like the photo above right now! Have a delightful day ~Lisa

Thanks for the info Lisa, so glad he is enjoying his new food and feeling better. Hugs Max!
Love this photo of you, Lisa. I can see how much you love your little guy, and you have such a beautiful smile and a happy light in your eyes. ;-)
I am happy to hear he is doing much better now. It is too darn cute Lisa. :)
Hugs~
Wow! HAdn't heard of this before. I'm on a listserve for dogfood recalls and I haven't heard about this issue. Thanks for sharing!

ps - I am mom to 3 mini schnauzers and we're not sure if our newest acquisition (#4) is mini or standard. He's too big to be mini and too small to be standard, but we love him and he doesn't have to roam the streets anymore.
Thanks for sharing all of the info, Lisa! When I read your original post it really got me thinking about my own fur-boys. We also feed them a very good quality food, but now I am thinking about maybe going grain-free or more natural. Even though they have never had any issues, it is kind of scary to know that those little buggers "could" be lurking. Do you find there are advantages to the grain-free food? I probably need to chat with our vet, too. I'm so glad Mr. Max is feeling better! Give him a hug and a belly rub from me! :)
Thanks for the update Lisa! Happy to hear your little guy is feeling better :)
Thanks Lisa ! We feed our dog grain free already so maybe we don't have to worry. Glad max is better, and you must have a great vet.....wink,wink! :)
Max's new menu sounds quite appetizing, Lisa! Hope he continues on the road to good health. :)
Thanks for the info, Lisa! I'm wondering now about my puppy. She'll be fine for a few weeks and then won't eat much for a few days. It's been hot here (in the 110s*F) and so she doesn't like to take as long of walks and I'm wondering if the heat is just affecting her...hope Max is up and 100%! :)
