ccc #59 ~ Once Upon a Time!

Hi there I'm back again! {If you're here for my DeNami post please click here.} A couple of weeks ago I was the winner for a CAS-ology challenge. With that came an invitation from Melissa to be their guest designer for this week's challenge! She emailed me that the cue word would be book. Now let me tell you, I went completely blank on this one for days, completely!!!! How on earth could something so simple be so difficult? I brainstormed, I searched Pinterest and cardmaking blogs...nothing was sparking. I went to JoAnns with the hope of finding a sticker or embellie I could design around...zilch!! Now I'm down to one day before having to make this, get it photographed and sent off to Melissa in an email. Soooo I said to myself "Lisa get a grip this is not THAT hard"!!

Book...book...bookmark...bookplate...bookworm (hmmm, cute but I have no worms!)...page...first page...once upon a time...once upon a time??? That's it!!! A big sigh of relief as a complete calm washed over me when I finally sat down to create this...

I used a combination of small stamps to create a simple storybook-like illustrated corner that would highlight those famous words. My words were stamped with whimsical Hampton Arts letters. To balance the design I added another teeny corner diagonally opposite the first one. A soft color palette with sweet little stamps by Judith, Impression Obsession and Papertrey Ink.

I hope you have sparks of creativity for this cue word and play along with us this week at CAS-ology! Thanks so much for stopping by ~Lisa

Hahaha, love your story on this one. It's always nice to know that other designers have difficulty some times too. I'm going to have to borrow your phrase ... "kelly, get a grip, it's not that hard!" Glad you stuck it out, your card is a great interpretation of the word book!

I can totally identify with being stumped...I am battling the same thing right now myself! You certainly triumphed in the end though - this is a lovely card and I could see using this for so many things! :)
